About Us

All arborists are not the same.

Our team has obtained the highest levels of recognition in the tree care industry, the Board Certified Master Arborist and Registered Consulting Arborist designations. “Arborist” is a generic term used for tree specialist. A Certified Arborist is the entry-level accreditation available through the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). There are over 10,000 ISA Certified Arborists in the United States alone.

Board Certified Master Arborist

Fewer than 2% of all ISA Certified Arborists have become Board Certified Master Arborists. “The ISA Board Certified Master Arborist credential is the highest level of certification offered by ISA. This credential recognizes ISA Certified Arborists who have reached the pinnacle of their profession. In addition to passing an extensive scenario-based exam, candidates must abide by a Code of Ethics, which ensures quality of work.” International Society of Arboriculture

Registered Consulting Arborist

There are less than 700 active Registered Consulting Arborists in the United States of America. “ASCA’s Consulting Arborists are dedicated to objectively assessing trees, enhancing the community, and protecting the environment. They are also devoted to a course of lifelong learning about arboriculture. Those with Registered Consulting Arborist.

(RCA) status have chosen to take their career even higher by earning that designation.” American Society of Consulting Arborists

Butch Everett – Principal Member

After high school graduation in 1982, Butch worked as a landscape construction and maintenance contractor. He founded a small landscape company servicing southern California which was sold in 1995. Butch then worked for the largest national landscape contractor in the U.S. at the time.

Shortly after becoming an ISA Certified Arborist in 1998, Butch’s interest in arboriculture grew and he shifted to the tree care division. In 2002 Butch was hired by an enterprising landscape company, based out of Los Angeles, to develop a tree care division in the San Diego area.

He later partnered with a northern California tree care company and purchased this successfully developed San Diego location. Wanting to further expand his arboricultural knowledge and professional experience, Butch sold his interest in the company and became a Registered Consulting Arborist in 2012.

Bradley Brown – Principal Member

Bradley gained his love of forests while obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of California at Santa Cruz. After graduating in 1996, he received his teaching credential but soon realized that his passion was outside with trees. In 2003 he moved back to southern California and joined up with Butch to help build a successful tree service company in San Diego.

Bradley saw the need for independent, third-party tree expertise and founded the Bradley Consulting Group in 2009. At the time, this was one of San Diego’s only consulting firm practicing exclusively in arboriculture. He has been involved with several high-profile cases and appeared on multiple news channels as a tree expert. In 2011 he obtained his Registered Consulting Arborist certification. A year later he became a Board Certified Master Arborist.

Butch and Bradley again joined forces to form Tree Life Consulting, LLC in 2015.
